During June, the Consortium supported and worked with a range of women’s organisations. The Women's Centre Derry asked women’s centres/organisations to express their interest in completing QCF Level 5 Diploma training in Child Care/Learning and Development. We will use this information to support the development of this training programme for women’s organisations providing on-site childcare.
The Women's Centre Derry also attended and represented the views of women and women's organisations in disadvantaged urban and rural areas at an OFMDFM Childcare Strategy Stakeholder meeting, while FWIN gave a presentation on the Consortium at a Women's Forum Meeting in L'Derry, discussing a number of issues including the OFMDFM Gender Equality Strategy.
The Consortium will soon be responding to a Brightstart Discussion Paper on The NI Executives Strategy for Affordable and Integrated Childcare. We will highlight the needs of our stakeholder groups to ensure the childcare needs of women in disavantaged urban and rural areas are included within the strategy.
