Siobhán continues to work with the Cliff Edge Coalition on their Working Group to take forward and lobby for the extension and strengthening of the mitigations package in Northern Ireland. The Coalition is continuing to campaign to Close the Loopholes in the Bedroom Tax and Benefit Cap.
As part of the Cliff Edge working group Siobhán met with the Minister Deirdre Hargey to discuss the lack of progress on extending the mitigations legislation for the Bedroom Tax and the Benefit Cap. The Minister informed Cliff Edge that time was running out to get this legislation extended before the end of the Assembly Mandate. Following this meeting Cliff Edge wrote to all the main Northern Ireland political parties asking them to publically state their commitment to the mitigations and urging them to progress this vital legislation as soon as possible. A press release was issued reiterating what was contained in the letter and a piece was featured in the Belfast Telegraph including a quote from Siobhán which you can read here
