Siobhán has completed an online response and a written response on behalf of the Consortium to the Committee for the Economy’s consultation on the Domestic Abuse (Safe Leave) Bill. The Consortium’s response welcomed the proposals for introducing paid safe leave and the need for this to be a day one right. While the Consortium supported the Bill’s proposal for an introduction of 10 days safe leave we called for more than 10 days to be available to victims/survivors, ideally 20 days paid leave. Given the complexities and the range of issues which may need to be dealt with in domestic abuse situations it is important to provide adequate paid leave to enable victims/survivors to access safety.
