“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made”
This quote is by the formidable Ruth Bader Ginsberg and it’s just as true today as it was then.
Women are constantly challenged and rarely heard, we are still fighting for Abortion Rights, Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, Mother and Baby Unit and fighting against Rape culture and Equal Pay etc.
Women are always left with the responsibility of taking care of the family unit, this will include, childcare, finances, ageing relatives, food provision anything and everything that needs to be taken care of women will do it no matter what the cost.
They will sacrifice their mental health, physical health, emotional health and everything in between to ensure that their family’s needs are being met. Women are overlooked, under-rated and under-valued but in reality, they are the cornerstone of home and society.
As we approach the 8th “March International Women’s Day” we remember that women will never back down, we have always had to fight for our rights;
- Right to vote
- Right to Education
- Right to Work
- Right to Bodily Autonomy
- Reproductive rights/Contraception
- Equal Pay
and we will continue the fight in whatever capacity comes next. Women do not belong on the outskirts, women belong in in every place and they deserve to be celebrated.
