Siobhán has submitted a Consortium response to this Bill in the form of a letter. The Consortium welcomed the aims of the Bill to end the use of zero-hour contracts and making exclusivity terms unenforceable. However, while it is important to ban these type of contracts it does not deal with other issues in the labour market such as low pay, precarious and involuntary part-time work which give rise to many of the same impacts for employees particularly women.
Siobhán had previously submitted a detailed response to the original consultation on this Private Members Bill and directed the Committee for the Economy to this response for more specific details around the Bill.
The Consortium’s response to the Zero Hours Contracts Bill is available on the Consortium’s website here.
