WOMEN’STEC, Bolster Community and Women In Business NI held a highly successful “Time for Me” event in September at the picturesque Tí Chulainn & Slieve Gullion Lodge in Mullaghbawn. The event, part of the Building Futures programme, saw a fantastic turnout of women eager to learn, connect, and share their experiences in a welcoming environment.

We were honoured to have a panel of inspiring women—Aine, Claire, Denise, Margaret, and Maire—share their personal stories. Their testimonies were moving and truly highlighted the impact that programmes like Building Futures have on women’s lives. As they spoke about their journeys, words like “liberating,” “positive progress,” “a turning point,” and “transformed” echoed throughout the room. One participant even remarked, “I wish I’d done it 40 years ago!”

Also at the event, WOMEN’STEC tutors and volunteers were on hand to provide DIY tutorials, giving attendees a chance to try out skills they would learn on a Building Futures construction course. From using power tools to basic home maintenance techniques, the women were encouraged to get hands-on and experience what our programmes offer, helping build their confidence and interest in practical skills.

We extend our thanks to some partners who joined us at the event including Wood Innovations Ltd, and the team from Jobs & Benefits Northern Ireland (Newry) for providing valuable advice and guidance to all attendees. Their support is helping women take the next steps toward their futures with confidence.

The event underscored the importance of taking time for personal development and self-care, and we are excited to continue empowering women through our upcoming programmes. The sense of community, shared experiences, and newfound friendships made at the event reaffirm the power of these events to transform lives. We look forward to welcoming even more women to our future sessions as we kick off the latest term of Building Futures!
